14th Assembly of International Renewable Energy Agency gets underway in Abu Dhabi


The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) started on Wednesday its 14th Assembly in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates.

AZERTAC’s correspondent dispatched to the UAE reports that the Assembly is held under the theme ‘Outcome of COP28: Infrastructure, Policies, and Skills for Tripling Renewables and Accelerating the Energy Transition’.

14th IRENA Assembly President and Rwanda’s Minister of Infrastructure Jimmy Gasore, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of India Bhupinder Bhalla on behalf of President of the 13th IRENA Assembly, Minister of New and Renewable Energy of India Raj Kumar Singh, as well as IRENA-Director General Francesco La Camera made opening remarks. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and President of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly Dennis Francis also addressed the participants via video link.

The Assembly brings together more than 1,300 participants from 144 countries, including Ministers, industry leaders, and CEOs to chart a s
trategic way forward across countries, regions, and the world, in light of the findings of the first Global Stocktake at COP28.

The two-day event continues with panel sessions.
