Kazakhstan significantly decreases exports to Austria

The value of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Austria amounted to $60.1 million from January through May 2021, compared to $61.9 million during the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The share of Austria in the total value of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover stood at 0.16 percent during the reporting period, compared to 0.17 percent during the same period of 2020.

Kazakhstan’s exports to Austria amounted to $642,545 from January through May 2021, compared to $2.2 million during the same period of 2020.

Austria’s share in the total volume of Kazakhstan’s exports amounted to 0.002 percent during the reporting period of 2021, compared to 0.009 percent during the same period of 2020.

In turn, Kazakhstan’s imports from Austria amounted to nearly $59.66 million over the reporting period, compared to $59.68 million during the same period of 2020.

Austria’s share in the total volume of Kazakhstan’s imports amounted to 0.40 percent during the reporting period of 2021, compared to 0.45 percent during the same period of 2020.

The total volume of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover amounted to $36.4 billion from January through May 2021, which indicates a decrease from $36.07 billion during the same period of 2020.

Kazakhstan’s export amounted to $21.6 billion during the reporting period of 2021 ($22.9 billion in the same period of 2020), whereas imports amounted to $14.7 billion ($13.1 billion in 2020).

During the reporting period, the main articles of Kazakhstan – Austria trade turnover were food products, agricultural products, as well as products of the chemical industry.

FC Qarabag beat Aberdeen in first leg of UEFA Europa Conference League playoff

Azerbaijan’s football club Qarabag beat Aberdeen (Scotland) 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League playoff on Thursday at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku.

Spanish midfielder Jaime Romero scored the only goal of the game in the 30th minute.

The second leg will be played at the Pittodrie Stadium in Aberdeen, Scotland on Aug. 26.

Azerbaijani Ombudsperson sends to international organizations second report on hatred policy against Azerbaijanis

Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva has sent to international organizations the second part of the Report on Hate Crimes and Hate Speech against Azerbaijanis, which was released on May 4, 2021.

The purpose of the report is to inform the world community about the results of the hatred policy against Azerbaijanis in and outside of Armenia during the first and second Karabakh wars, as well as Tovuz battles of July 2020. It also aims to draw attention to the examples of hate speech against Azerbaijanis used by Armenians through social media platforms.

The report was developed on the basis of the information obtained from reliable sources published on social media sites, as well as local and foreign mass media.

In the report the Ombudsman expresses her concern about the fate of missing persons in the First Karabakh War, disrespect for human rights and freedoms and indifference to the principle of rule of law by the Armenian political and military leadership. The Azerbaijani Ombudsperson calls on international organizations and national human rights institutions to concert their efforts to put an end to such actions, which can lead to the emergence of new hotbeds of conflict.

Azerbaijani tankmen continue preparations for “Tank Biathlon” contest

Azerbaijani tankmen, who will take part in the “Tank Biathlon” contest to be held as part of the “International Army Games – 2021”, continue preparations, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.

“The personnel of the Azerbaijani crew carried out adjustment fire from the tank’s standard armament that will be used in the competition.

On August 24, the Azerbaijani tankmen, who will compete in the first division with the crews of Belarus, Serbia, and Kazakhstan, will start the first race,” the ministry said.

Georgia reports 4,743 new cases of Covid, 3,393 recoveries, 59 deaths

Georgia has reported 4,743 new cases of coronavirus, 3,393 recoveries and 59 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to Agenda.Ge.

58,995 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia currently.

46,389 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 29,181 of the 46,389 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 17,208 were PCR tests.

The country has had 506,040 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.

10.22 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.

440,370 of the 506,040 patients have recovered, while 6,649 have died from the virus.

907,665 individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the country so far, of which 266,962 individuals have been completely vaccinated.

Putin, Macron express determination to continue efforts to resolve Nagorno-Karabakh issue

Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Emmanuel Macron of France are determined to continue joint efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the Kremlin press service said in a statement following a telephone conversation between the two leaders on Thursday, according to TASS.

According to the press service, the Russian president briefed his French counterpart on the implementation of the trilateral statements that Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed on November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021.

“The parties pointed out that the situation in the region was stable in general, steps were being taken to restore economic and transport ties in the South Caucasus and meet the humanitarian needs of the people. Both parties expressed determination to continue working together on various aspects of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, primarily within the OSCE Minsk Group,” the statement said.

In addition, Putin and Macron also discussed a number of other regional issues, including those related to the African continent, the Kremlin press service said. “The parties agreed to maintain contact,” the statement added.
