Azerbaijan MFA Accuses U.S. of Supporting Illegal Regime

BAKU — In a recent statement, spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry criticized the United States for its alleged role in sustaining an illegal regime within Azerbaijan’s territories.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Hajizada responded to remarks made by officials from the U.S. Department of State, asserting that if the United States had taken a different stance on threats to Azerbaijan and international peace, the issue could have been settled without resorting to military action. The spokesperson accused the United States of misleading Armenia and providing support to separatist representatives, which contributed to the perpetuation of the illegal regime.

Hajizada further commented on the unsuccessful mediation by the United States and its failure to address Armenia’s purported aggression, which led to Azerbaijan taking military steps to reclaim its lands. He called for an end to policies that encourage Armenia’s aggressive behavior, which hampers peace and stability in the region. Emphasizing Azerbaijan’s resolve, Hajizada warned that any threats or unfriendly actions towards Azerbaijan would be met with an adequate response.
