Azerbaijan’s national team will not participate in the Sambo World Cup to be held in Yerevan, Armenia’s capital city, Yagub Abdullayev, the official of Azerbaijan Sambo Federation told APA.
According to him, the main reason behind refusing to participate in the competition is the tension between the two countries: ‘Everyone knows the treatment of our athletes in other sports competitions hosted by Armenia. This hurts the motivation of our athletes, as well as increases security concerns. That’s why, as a federation, we have decided not to participate in the World Cup that will be held in Yerevan.’
