BAKU—Azersheker LLC, an Azerbaijani agricultural and textile company, in partnership with Uzbekistan’s Global Textile, is set to complete a comprehensive cotton-textile project by mid-2026. The initiative aims to generate 2,400 new jobs and includes significant investments in cotton processing and yarn production facilities.
According to Trend News Agency, the joint project, valued at $104 million, will span several Azerbaijani regions, including Yevlakh, Aghjabadi, Imishli, and Fuzuli. Nasib Islamzada, Chairman of Azersheker’s Board, highlighted that the venture will collaborate closely with local farmers and is poised to boost the textile industry’s value chain within Azerbaijan. “We will establish plants for primary processing of cotton in Ujar and Agjabadi, aiming to organize the processing of 40,000 tons of cotton,” Islamzada stated.
The project includes constructing a yarn production facility within the next three months, with an estimated $80 million allocated for yarn processing and fabric production. The collaboration will not only enhance textile manufacturing capabilities but also align with Azerbaijan’s broader goals of diversifying exports and reducing dependency on raw material exports.
Islamzada further noted that the project plans to produce 11,000 tons of yarn annually, ultimately leading to garment production. This expansion is expected to integrate Azerbaijan more deeply into the global textile market, including partnerships with major European brands and an increased presence in nearby markets.
The announcement also detailed ongoing agricultural investments by Azersheker, with new farms and modern irrigation systems being developed across Azerbaijan, bolstering the nation’s food security and agricultural sustainability.
