Azerbaijani Parliament adopts draft law on implementation of the 2023 state budget in third reading


Today, at the plenary session of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), the draft law “On the implementation of the 2023 state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was put to discussion, APA reports.

According to the draft law, it is proposed to approve the implementation of the 2023 state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan with revenues in the amounting to AZN 35,236,394.3 thousand and expenses amounting to AZN 36,457,956.1 thousand.

After discussions, the draft law was put to the vote and adopted in the third reading.

European Football Championship starts today


Euro 2024, the 17th edition of the European Championship, kicks off today in Germany when host Germany plays Scotland at the Munich Football Arena (better known as the Allianz Arena for Bayern Munich games), APA reports.

A total of 24 teams will compete for the title.

Group A will be held tomorrow, at 17:00, between the Hungarian and Swiss teams.

Recall that the other match of Group A will take place tomorrow at 17:00 between the national teams of Hungary and Switzerland.

Note that the teams finishing in the top two places in the groups and the best four teams in third place will advance to the Round of 16.

The group stage matches will conclude on June 26th.

The Round of 16 matches will commence on June 29th.

Azerbaijani SOCAR, Baker Hughes to establish ESP assembly, service center (PHOTO)


The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Baker Hughes company will establish a center for the assembly and service of electric submersible pumps (ESP) in Azerbaijan, Trend reports via SOCAR.

The relevant agreement was signed by SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and Baker Hughes Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli on June 13.

The agreement on the assembly, repair, and maintenance of ESP will be directly implemented by SOCAR’s Azneft Production Union (PU) and Baker Hughes Services International LLC.

“In the first phase, 50 ESP kits will be delivered to Azerbaijan,” the statement of SOCAR explained.

The innovative approach to be implemented within this initiative will streamline processes and enhance the efficiency and productivity of Azneft PU’s operations.

The new technology will allow us to steer clear of issues that plagued earlier models of submersible pumps.

“Through strategic cooperation, partner exchange, innovative ideas, and new technology, SOCAR hopes to better its operations and achieve new
successes,” the statement added.

To note, electric submersible pumps are used worldwide in deep and inclined oil wells, as well as in highly watered wells.

Baker Hughes Company, an American energy company, was established in 1987 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas. It offers products and services for oil well drilling, formation evaluation, and completion, and is one of the world’s largest oil field services companies.

Azerbaijan approves protocol signed with Kyrgyzstan on customs – decree


President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree approving the “Protocol between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Customs Service under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic on cooperation in the field of exchange of information on mutual trade statistics,” Trend reports.

According to the decree, the “Protocol between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Customs Service under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic on cooperation in the field of information exchange on mutual trade statistics” signed on April 24, 2024, in Baku was approved.

Following the entry into force of this protocol, the State Customs Committee should ensure the implementation of its provisions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should send a notification to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on the fulfillment of domestic procedures necessary for the protocol to enter into force.

An awareness-raising event on ‘State guarantees for the rights and freedoms of persons with disabilities’ was held at the Vocational and Labor Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities under the Social Services Agency of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan as part of the ‘Human Rights Month-Long Campaign’ declared at the initiative of the Azerbaijani Ombudsperson.

In her remarks, Ayten Tarverdiyeva, Head of the Unit for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the Ombudsman’s Office, who participated at the event as a speaker, informed the participants about the obligations set out in the CRPD, the new relevant competences granted to the Ombudsman for the promotion and independent monitoring of the implementation of the relevant Convention, and the work carried out in this direction. Furthermore, the content of the appeals addressed to the Ombudsman regarding the rights of PWDs, the promotion of their health, education, and labor rights,
ensuring accessibility, and the work being done to create an inclusive society.

The meeting also featured discussions and a Q/A session.
