Olympics to deploy 18,000 security guards a day

Organizers of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics have unveiled a plan to deploy as many as 18,000 private security guards daily during the event, according to NHK WORLD-JAPAN.

Thousands of security staff will patrol the 43 Olympic venues and surrounding neighborhoods, alongside local police.

Olympic officials said that the deployment plan would ensure maximum security, even if venues are full.

Organizers also said they were satisfied with recruitment levels, despite the fact that previous games have often faced challenges securing enough private security staff.

They added that flexibility was important in terms of finalizing exact personnel numbers at venues, until spectator numbers were confirmed.

Chingiz Huseynzade: We may have at least 8 real medals in Tokyo Olympic

“We may have at least 8 real medals. I expect a medal from each of our wrestlers, judokas”, Vice-president of Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade told in an interview with journalists, APA reports.

This time, our main hope is karatekas. We expect good results from them. We have medal candidates for boxing and taekwondo. There are strong athletes on the team. What did Rio teach to us? Our 8 athletes reached the final. 7 of them lost, and one won a gold medal. Each of them might win a gold medal. When it comes to medals, it is difficult to determine which type of medals will be. These are issues that may happen a second, at a time. Generally, when it comes to medals, I hope that there will be enough,” he said.
