A memorandum was signed between Trkiye and Russia on the cessation of fire and all kinds of military operations in the Nagorno-Garabagh conflict zone, and two months later, on January 30, 2021, the Trkiye-Russia Joint Monitoring Center commenced its work, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Sergey Istrakov, said this at the closing ceremony of the Trkiye-Russia Joint Monitoring Center in Aghdam, APA reports.

According to him, over the years, the center has been a successful example of coordination and joint activity of the military of all three countries.

Mr Istrakov stated that all assigned tasks have been resolved in conditions of friendship and constructive relations: “Together with the Russian peacekeeping contingent, all possible opportunities have been utilized for the continuous and conflict-free development of the Garabagh region. The mutual activity established based on mutual agreement and international
law principles enabled the successful completion of peacekeeping operations and the withdrawal of the Russian peacekeeping contingent from the Garabagh economic region of Azerbaijan before the planned time. We have witnessed how positively the activity carried out in a planned manner through this center has yielded results.”
