History of tolerance in Azerbaijan unquestionable – US ambassador

BAKU: The history of tolerance in Azerbaijan is unquestionable, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mark Libby said during the press conference, Trend reports.

“I believe that we can do a lot to improve relations between the US and Azerbaijan. There is much work to be done on issues of common interest, including regional security, energy, and trade. I consider all of this to be positive and promising. No one doubts that Azerbaijan has excellent relations between religious communities. You have a history of tolerance among Muslims, Christians, and Jews. That is not in question. It’s not something I am ready to criticize. The US Commission on International Religious Freedom is not a US government entity,” he said.

Meanwhile, on January 4, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that several countries, including Azerbaijan, have been added to the “special watch list” regarding religious freedom.
