Inflation in January made up 13.6% year-on-year

In January this year’s consumer price index in Azerbaijan rose by 13.6% as compared to the same month in 2022, the State Statistics Committee said today.

In annual terms the prices of foodstuffs, including alcohol and tobacco products rose by an average of 17.5%. Food products in January cost 18.1% more expensive on average than in January last year. Prices of non-food products rose by 12.2% during the period, paid services to the population – 9.7%, according to the SCC.

Monthly inflation amounted to 1% in January (as compared to December 2022). Food products rose by 1.3% for the month, non-food products – 1.1%, paid services to the population – 0.5%.

It must be recalled that in February this year the government raised fares for metro and public transport by 33% or more. Regulated prices of some medicines were also raised
