International Organization of Turkic Culture – TURKSOY celebrates 31th anniversary

Today marks the 31st anniversary of the establishment of the International Organization of Turkic Culture – TURKSOY. On July 12, 1993, at a meeting held in Almaty with the participation of the Ministers of Culture from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Trkiye, and Turkmenistan, an agreement was signed to establish the “Joint Administration of Turkic Culture and Arts” (TURKSOY), the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.

The Ministry noted that since 2009, the organization has been called the International Organization of Turkic Culture. The Secretariat of TURKSOY is located in Ankara, Trkiye. In addition to the six founding member countries, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as the Altai, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Tuva, Khakassia, and Sakha-Yakutia republics of the Russian Federation, and the Gagauzia autonomous region of Moldova hold observer statuses in TURKSOY.
