Procurement practices in Georgia undergo transformation – deputy chairman

TBILISI: Georgia is changing its approach to procurement practices, deputy chairman of the Public Procurement Agency of Georgia, Kakha Demetrashvili said, Trend reports.

He made the remark during the panel discussion on “Sustainable Procurement – Contributing to ADB’s Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Goals” at ADB’s annual meeting.

“This journey began six years ago. We dubbed it the concept philosophy. Moreover, the philosophical idea is basically the same. This is fresh thinking. Most of you are, I suppose, professionals in government procurement or purchasing, or at the very least, finance. And so the philosophy is being changed and an approach is evolving. I would even say that we are redefining public policy principles, not just in procurement practice,” he said.
