Secretary of State Commission: Remains of missing Azerbaijanis been buried in Armenia, and we hope they will be returned

‘The State Commission possesses information on the taking of 253 Azerbaijani citizens as hostages and their detention in Armenia after the First Karabakh War and the ceasefire reached in May 1994 (until September 2020),’ Ismayil Akhundov, secretary of the State Commission on Prisoners and Missing and Hostaged Citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, head of the Working Group, told APA in an extensive interview as an answer to ‘Does Armenia continue to cooperate with Azerbaijan on the return of corpses? Didn’t this issue come up on agenda after the anti-terrorist operations?’ inquiry.

‘This means that the remains of missing Azerbaijanis were also buried in the territory of Armenia. We hope that the Armenian side will return the remains of those persons within the framework of cooperation,’ he said.
