A webinar “Finding out the truth about drugs” was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), dedicated to June 26 – the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”.

Speaking at the webinar organized in an online format through the Zoom platform, Vice-rector of AzTU for Social Affairs and Public Relations, Kamran Rasulov, noted that anti-drug measures in Azerbaijan are always in the center of attention, and spoke about the relevant state programs implemented in this direction.

Raqif Allahverdiyev, Head of the National Information Sector of the State Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking, gave detailed information on the implementation of state programs and relevant legislative acts approved by the country’s leadership. Then, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Police Lieutenant, Colonel Vugar Mansurov, made a report on crimes committed in Azerbaijan related to the illegal manufacture, production, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their precursors.

Teachers of the Departments of Humanities and Foreign Languages of AzTU expressed their opinion about the “Consequences of drug addiction and the fight against it”.

The webinar provided detailed information about the negative impact of drug addiction on people’s life and health, spiritual and moral values and socio-economic development, the legal framework for combating the consequences of drug addiction and other issues.

The discussions held around the reports were met with interest by the participants of the webinar.

Note that June 26 is celebrated annually in the world as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. In order to contribute to the anti-drug measures carried out in our country, AzTU attaches special importance to the implementation of appropriate educational work among young people.
