Azerbaijan discloses number of people involved in self-employment program in 2021

More than 1,000 disabled people were involved in the self-employment program in Azerbaijan in 2021, Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population told Trend on Jan. 19.

“Some 1,348 disabled people were involved in the self-employment program in 2021,” the ministry said. “The training was organized. These individuals were able to gain knowledge and skills in organizing and managing small business.”

The State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population provided 2,850 disabled people with suitable work upon the employment contracts in 2021.

Revenues from compulsory state social insurance grow in Azerbaijan – minister

Revenues from compulsory state social insurance grew in Azerbaijan in 2021, the country’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said on Twitter, Trend reports.

According to Jabbarov, this figure amounted to $3.8 billion (increase of 8 percent), whilst the forecast for them was fulfilled for 109.9 percent,

He noted that positive dynamics in this area was also registered in non-budget organizations.

Revenues from compulsory state social insurance for the above organizations increased by 15.3 percent – up to 2.4 billion manat ($1.4 billion), and the forecast for them was fulfilled for 113.2 percent, added the minister.

Azerbaijan provides lump-sum allowance to families of January 20 tragedy martyrs, victims

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan provided lump-sum allowance to martyr families and the persons disabled during tragic events which took place on January 20, 1990 [in Baku], Trend reports via the ministry.

According to the ministry, the allowance worth 200 manat ($117.6) was transferred to the bank accounts of 333 people from the mentioned category.

The ministry noted that persons registered in Baku, other cities and regions can apply to any branch of the International Bank of Azerbaijan and after submitting their identity cards receive a bank card for the allowance.

Along with an increase in other social benefits, the amount of this allowance also doubled compared to last year, stressed the ministry.

Azerbaijan to showcase its non-oil products at int’l exhibitions

Azerbaijan’s non-oil products will be showcased at the 29th international exhibition for food, beverages and food raw materials (PRODEXPO 2022) in Moscow and Gulfood 2022 (Gulfood Show Dubai) in the first quarter of 2022, Trend reports on Jan. 19 citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.

According to the message, more than 30 Azerbaijani companies will take part in PRODEXPO 2022 exhibition, to be held on February 7-11, through the assistance of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and the support of the Ministry of Economy.

Up to 30 local companies will participate in Gulfood 2022, which will be held on February 13-17.

Azerbaijani businessmen will have the opportunity to establish new cooperation with foreign businessmen and hold discussions on the export of products within the exhibitions.

Azerbaijani businessmen regularly participate in various events, including international exhibitions, to promote local products to the foreign markets and promote the “Made in Azerbaijan” brand.

Azerbaijan hosts auction for commissioning mineral deposits

A regular auction for putting mineral deposits into operation has been held in Azerbaijan, Trend reports with reference to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.

The ministry notes that 5, 10.5, 5 and 8 hectares of Bumchay, Damiraparanchay, Tikanlichay and Khirkhatala sand and gravel deposits respectively, located in the Gabala region, have been put up for the auction.

The winner for lot No 1 (Bumchay, Damiraparanchay, Tikanlichay sand and gravel deposits), as well as for lot No 4 (Khirkhatala sand and gravel deposit) was Korpu-Bina-Tikinti LLC; for lot No 2 (Damiraparanchay) and lot No 1 (Khirkhatala) – SAND AZ LLC; and lot No 3 (Damiraparanchay) – Rauf Garibov.

Auctions related to the commissioning of mineral deposits create new opportunities and favorable conditions for entrepreneurs working in this area, said the report.

UK shares experience in mine action with Azerbaijan – Ambassador

During my visits to Zangilan, Fuzuli and Barda, I saw the scale of mine “pollution”, British Ambassador to Azerbaijan James Sharp wrote about this on his Twitter page, Trend reports.

The ambassador said that the UK is sharing knowledge, technology and experience in the field of mine action with Azerbaijan.

“Today I met with four British demining experts working with ANAMA to ensure the safe return of displaced people to their homes”, Sharp said.
