On the basis of ICRC’s request, conditions created to take 3 seriously ill Armenians from Khankendi to Armenia

The free passage of civilian vehicles continues on the Khankendi-Lachin road, where the action was held in protest against the illegal exploitation of mineral fields in the areas under the temporary control of Russian peacekeepers, APA’s correspondent assigned to Shusha reports.

 

Today, based on the request of the International Committee of the Red Cross, at 08:47, 3 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles belonging to the International Committee of the Red Cross passed through the protest site and moved from Khankendi to Lachin. There were 3 seriously ill people of Armenian origin evacuated to Armenia in one of the vehicles.

 

The vehicle convoy will return from Armenia to Khankendi on the same day, and on the way back, it will carry medicines and medical supplies for the Khankendi hospital in the luggage compartment.

 

The participants of the protest pulled out of the road and opened a corridor for the passage of vehicles. Azerbaijani state and protest participants once again showed that they do not have any problem with the civilian Armenian population.

 

Moreover, another car of Russian peacekeepers passed through the area where the action was taking place.

7 killed in car ramming incident in southern Nigeria

At least seven people were killed and 29 others injured after a car rammed into a crowd of people at a carnival gathering in southern Nigeria’s Cross River state on Tuesday, an official said, APA reports citing Xinhua.

 

The accident happened during the annual Calabar Carnival, a large street party in the state capital city of Calabar, when a Toyota Camry car lost control and rammed into the crowd of onlookers, Maikano Hassan, head of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Cross River state, told Xinhua on the phone.

 

Seven people lost their lives on the spot, while the injured had been taken to a local hospital for treatment, Hassan said, adding the carnival activities for the day were suspended after the incident.

 

State Governor Ben Ayade expressed his sadness over the incident, saying he had ordered an immediate investigation into the incident and directed security agencies to apprehend the motorist who was on the run.

Tunisia foils 11 illegal immigration attempts

Tunisia has foiled eleven attempts by illegal migrants to cross the Mediterranean toward the Italian coast, National Guard Spokesman Houcemeddine Jbabli said Tuesday, APA reports citing englishnews.

 

A total of 216 illegal migrants, including 127 migrants of different nationalities, were intercepted late Monday night by the coast guard units off Tunisian coasts, Jbabli said in a statement.

 

More than 37,188 Tunisian illegal migrants have been intercepted this year, according to figures released by the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights on Tuesday.

 

“This year has been the most tragic and the heaviest in terms of deaths among illegal migrants of all nationalities off the Tunisian coast,” the statement said.

 

Located in the central Mediterranean, Tunisia is one of the most popular transit points for illegal immigration to Europe.

 

Although Tunisian authorities have adopted rigorous measures to tackle the problem, illegal immigration attempts from Tunisia to Italy have been on the rise.

Iranian Deputy Minister: Iran will not wait for Russia and China to complete Rasht-Astara railway line

“We will not wait for Russia and China for the completion of the Rasht-Astara railway line,” said Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Kheyrullah Khademi, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.

 

According to him, the improvement of the Rasht-Astara railway project of priority among railway projects in Iran: “Technical works of the project have been done, engineering works completed, a technical estimate has also been made, we have sent a contract to investors who want to invest, we will start the implementation of the project as soon as the financing is secured.”
