The 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has been concluded in the country’s capital of Beijing on Saturday, Xinhua reported.

“The week-long 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) concluded on Saturday in Beijing,” the agency stated.

The 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China kicked off at the Great Hall of the People at the Tiananmen Square in downtown Beijing on October 16. Nearly 2,300 delegates to the forum, representing 96.7 million members of the ruling party, discussed results of the past five years and approved the goals and objectives of China’s development for the next five-year period.

During the congress, delegates elected new members of the CPC Central Committee and the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection as well as considered amendments to the Communist Party Charter.
