5th Summer Camp for Diaspora Youth visits Azerbaijan’s Karabakh University


BAKU: Participants of the 5th Summer Camp for Diaspora Youth, held in Azerbaijan’s Lachin, visited Karabakh University in Khankendi city, where they met with its rector, Shahin Bayramov, the State Committee on Work with Diaspora told Trend.

Emphasizing that the camp participants were the first guests of Karabakh University, he provided detailed information about the history of the building, its modern infrastructure, future plans and projects, faculties, and specialties that will be taught at the university.

The rector pointed out that the university will start its activities for the first time in the new academic year, and over 1,000 students are expected to be admitted to six faculties across 27 specialties.

He highlighted that in the coming years, the number of faculties and specialties will increase, and, along with bachelor’s degrees, students will also be admitted to master’s and doctoral degrees.

Bayramov said that one of the main goals is to transform Karabakh University into the most modern educa
tional institution that will represent higher education in Azerbaijan globally.

The rector also voiced expectations from the diaspora youth.

He expressed confidence that the youth will support the promotion of Karabakh University worldwide and attract foreign students in the coming years.

Additionally, the visitors got acquainted with various places in Khankendi and were provided with detailed information about the city.

To note, Karabakh University was established by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on November 28, 2023. Classes at the newly established university are scheduled to start on September 15, 2024. The Charter of Karabakh University was endorsed by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on February 6, 2024. Furthermore, on February 15, 2024, the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan received an allocation of 10 million manat ($5.9 million) from the President’s reserve fund, ordered by President Ilham Aliyev, for the establishment of Karabakh University.
