A meeting was held in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic regarding the development of grain farming and the tasks ahead

On July 7, a meeting was held at the experimental farm of the “Araz” Science and Production Union regarding the development of grain growing in the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan and the tasks ahead.

AZERTAC from the press service of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republicwas informed that Vasif Talibov, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, opened the meeting and said: the measures implemented in the field of food safety in the autonomous republic have borne fruit. In the autonomous republic, the demand for basic agricultural products is completely covered, and the demand for grain is mainly covered by local production. Today, one of the main tasks ahead is to fully meet the demand for grain at the expense of local production. This year, a kilogram of grain is accepted at 60 kopecks, and a kilogram of barley at 48 kopecks. Despite the work done, productivity in the field of grain growing has not been fully achieved. In particular, agrotechnical rules are not strictly followed. As a result, productivity decreases. These should also be prevented. Today, those countries are experiencing problems where food and energy security and stability are not ensured. However, food and energy security has been ensured in the autonomous republic as part of the measures implemented in our country. The main task ahead is to increase the production of grain, which is a strategic product in the autonomous republic.

Elshad Aliyev, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, made a speech and said that providing subsidies, mineral fertilizers, chemical drugs, preferential loans to producers, implementation of modern land reclamation and irrigation measures, expansion of leasing services, establishment of fruit and vegetable processing enterprises, greenhouse complexes, as a result of increasing the volume of grain and cold storages, the population’s demand for agricultural products was met at the expense of local production. Cereal farming is of exceptional importance in ensuring food security. As a result of this, it is important to increase the production volume of cereals, especially grain and corn, which is an important field of agriculture, with intensive methods. This year, the observations made in the agricultural fields of the autonomous republic show that abundant crops were grown in the grain fields. Elshad Aliyev thanked the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly for the conditions created in the field of agriculture and for the care provided.

Chairman of Nakhchivan Agroleasing Open Joint Stock Company Vasif Mammadov, Chairman of Reclamation and Water Management Open Joint Stock Company Yahya Allahverdiyev, director of public legal entity “Nakhchivan Seeding Center” Abulfat Ahmadov and head of the State Service for Real Estate and Land Issues Muslim Jabbarzade gave relevant information.

Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov, speaking at the meeting, said: grain production has a special place among food security measures in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Paying for the demand for grain through local production is kept in mind, the state support for this field is increased every year. Currently, the autonomous republic has a grain storage warehouse with a total capacity of 27,000 tons, 14 grain processing enterprises and 6 water mills. Also, protection of the internal market, provision of machinery and seeds, construction of progressive irrigation networks, provision of subsidies and fertilizers have opened wide opportunities for those engaged in grain cultivation. Another reason for increasing grain production is the purchase of wheat and barley at affordable prices. According to the land balance of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 36 percent of the agricultural lands, i.e. more than 64 thousand hectares, are under cultivation, of which 82 percent – more than 52 thousand hectares – are irrigated areas. In the agricultural structure of the autonomous republic, grain fields make up 52 percent of the total cultivated areas. This suggests that the development of grain farming should be achieved not by expanding arable land, but by increasing productivity.

According to our national leader Heydar Aliyev, “Grain growing is one of the main areas of agriculture. We need to increase grain production year by year… Considering grain farming as the main field, we must deal with this work more seriously and tirelessly” should be kept in mind by the institutions, productivity should be increased. The use of elite and highly reproductive seeds resistant to local climatic conditions and diseases is important in grain production. The Ministry of Agriculture should determine the annual demand for seeds of the autonomous republic,

The Chairman of the Supreme Assembly said: Damya cultivation has great economic importance. The use of the drum method in grain cultivation in the autonomous republic is one of the main tasks ahead. The State Service for Real Estate and Land Matters should prepare a map of the cultivated areas of the autonomous republic, and the Ministry of Agriculture and local executive authorities should carry out the cultivation in full. The goal set in grain farming is to increase productivity per hectare. However, in some cases, we observe that despite planting in areas with the same soil and climate characteristics, the volume of grain produced is lower than the potential capacity of the field. Last year, there were landowners who harvested 65-70 centners and 13 centners per hectare in Sharur region. Over- or under-watering of grain fields also reduces productivity. Reclamation and Water Management Open Joint-Stock Company and local executive authorities should ensure that water is supplied to grain cultivation areas in agrotechnical norms, measures should be taken against salinization, and soil fertility should be increased.

“In addition to grain production, processing processes should be controlled,” said the Speaker of the Supreme Assembly, saying that the Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control State Service should monitor technological processes and product storage conditions in grain processing enterprises and sales centers to meet the population’s demand for quality flour. In 2022, 16 hectares in Nakhchivan city, 1302 hectares in Sharur district, 728 hectares in Babek district, 55 hectares in Ordubad district, 1949 hectares in Julfa district, 3508 hectares in Kangarli district, 294 hectares in Shahbuz district, 421 hectares in Saderak district, totaling 8273 hectares of arable land, of which 4230 1 hectare is municipal land, 1336 hectare is state land, and 2707 hectare is private land. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic should pay attention to the implementation of the assigned tasks,

Then the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly was interested in the progress of the grain harvest in the autonomous republic.

It was reported that 32 thousand 567 hectares of autumn grain were planted for this year’s harvest, of which 21 thousand 369 hectares are wheat and 11 thousand 198 hectares are barley. Spring grain planting was carried out on 899 hectares, of which 9 hectares are wheat and 890 hectares are barley. 908 hectares of crops are dry land. 93 combine harvesters, 690 tractors, as well as other machinery and vehicles were made ready, and necessary spare parts were purchased for grain harvesting to be completed in the optimal time with quality. In addition, the necessary parts are also available in the spare parts market and stores in Nakhchivan. 9 of the combine harvesters that will participate in the harvest belong to “Nakhchivan Agroleasing” Open Joint Stock Company, 7 to “Nakhchivan Seed Center” public legal entity, and 77 to individuals and legal entities. Also, in order to reliably ensure fire safety in the fields during grain harvesting in the territory of the autonomous republic, representatives of the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Emergency Situations and Agriculture conducted fire-technical inspections of harvesters involved in harvesting. At the same time, 12 firefighting teams of the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are serving in the areas where intensive harvesting is carried out.

“Gobustan”, “Ahmedaga”, “Konya-2002”, “Fatima”, “Bayragdar”, as well as “Azamatli-95” short hybrid wheat, “Qarabag-22”, “Qarabag” are grown in the fields of “Araz” Science and Production Union. -33″ barley seed varieties were used. Granstar, topical, puma super are used against weeds in autumn grain crops, ruby preparations are used to treat seeds against diseases, and superphosphate and mixed fertilizer are applied under the plow, and urea fertilizer is used for grain development in spring.

Then the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly thanked the employees of “Araz” Science and Production Union.

There was also an inspection of the seed varieties tested in the area, and it was reported that 95 seed varieties were tested on an area of 0.7 hectares.

The Chairman of the Supreme Assembly gave orders to hold the consultation in cities and regions.
