A delegation of demining specialists from the American organization Tetra-Tech visited Azerbaijan on February 12-19 and visited the liberated territories.
On February 17, the mission shared its impressions and conclusions at a meeting with the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency. During the meeting, the current situation and ways of future cooperation were discussed, the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency said.
At present, local specialists, as well as Russian and Turkish sappers, are engaged in demining in the territories liberated last autumn.
Previously, local military experts have repeatedly stated that finding and clearing mines could take years. According to their estimates, from 50 to 100 thousand mines can be laid in the conflict zone, most of which are in Terter, Aghdam and Fizuli.
Earlier, the head of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, said that the enemy mined not only the territories on the line of contact between the troops, but also cities, roads, and important strategic heights. He noted that demining is a top priority in the liberated territories.
