American Jewish Community hails atmosphere of historical tolerance in Azerbaijan
The atmosphere of historical tolerance in Azerbaijan was hailed as the the countrys FM Elmar Mammadyarov met with a delegation led by Executive Director of the American Jewish Committee David Harris and President of the Committee John Shapiro.
Mammadyarov drew the attention into the fact that different religious confessions have historically lived in peace in Azerbaijan, noting that the Jewish community have existed in the country for centuries.
The FM said that multiculturalism is a way of life of the Azerbaijani people, hailing the country’s contribution to the promotion of intercultural and inter-religious dialogue at the international level. He lauded the Azerbaijan-hosted prestigious events as the 7th Global Baku Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations and International Humanitarian Forum in this regard.
Executive Director of the American Jewish Committee David Harris hailed the atmosphere of historical tolerance in Azerbaijan, as well as the support and care shown to the Jewish community in the country.
They also exchanged views on prospects of development of relations of Azerbaijan with the United States and Israel.
