‘Armenians also created certain artificial barriers to prevent mine clearance when territories were contaminated with mines’, said Sabuhi Sariyev, Chief of Staff of the Special Purpose Mine Action Unit of the Special Risk Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), APA’s Garabagh Breau reports.
He noted that the special-purpose military unit of MES quickly carries out operations to clear mines and unexploded ordnance in the territories liberated from occupation: ‘Until now we have carried out cleaning works in several directions of Agdam, mainly in residential areas, water basins, areas where roads pass. During demining a large number of metal scraps have been found in all mined areas. And it creates some difficulties in demining works. Metal scraps give a dangerous signal to the detector. The detection of the signaling obstacle causes a lot of time loss, but despite all this, mine clearance works are going fast.”
