ASELSAN to Establish Joint Production Venture with Azerbaijan

Baku — In a move spurred by geopolitical pressures, ASELSAN, a major Turkish defense company, is advancing plans to establish a joint production facility with Azerbaijan, focusing on shared technology and production capabilities.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol revealed the collaboration during discussions with journalists at the “ADEX-2024” exhibition. Akyol mentioned that the embargo resulting from the Garabagh conflict has necessitated closer industrial ties between Turkey and Azerbaijan, prompting this initiative.

The partnership was formalized through a contract signed at the exhibition, marking a significant step in bilateral defense relations. The joint venture aims to leverage ASELSAN’s technological expertise and Azerbaijan’s strategic position to enhance their respective defense capabilities. Akyol highlighted that one of the primary focuses of this collaboration is to ensure robust and resilient production streams for critical defense technologies.
