Azerbaijan Bolsters Fire Safety Measures Ahead of COP29


Sumgayit — The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan convened a meeting to fortify fire safety protocols in the Sumgayit region, particularly around critical and hazardous facilities, as well as residential areas, in preparation for the upcoming COP29.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the gathering was aimed at ensuring the reliable provision of fire safety and addressing current issues and strategies. The meeting included representatives from the State Fire Control Service, the Sumgayit City Executive Authority, housing development managers, and local mayors. Discussions focused on the cleanup of areas with accumulated domestic and industrial waste, the repair of malfunctioning fire water pools and hydrants, and the overall fire safety conditions at significant and potentially dangerous enterprises and residential buildings. The attendees identified existing deficiencies and compliance violations, setting tasks for relevant organizations to resolve these issues promptly.



Additionally, the meeting underscored the importance of enhanced collaborative efforts to ensure robust fire safety measures are in place for the high-profile international event, COP29, highlighting the critical need for readiness in all related sectors.
