Azerbaijan, Georgia discuss prospects for agricultural cooperation

The ample opportunities for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in the field of agriculture were hailed during the meeting between Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Faig Guliyev and Georgian Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia.

The meeting focused on improving the legal framework and signing new draft agreements in the field of agriculture, food security and environmental protection, as well as the legislative framework for the joint efficient use of the Kura River basin and transboundary waters.

The meeting also discussed opportunities to increase the share of non-oil, especially agricultural products in bilateral trade, promote the mutual participation of public and private sector representatives in international exhibitions and conferences in this field.

The sides highlighted the importance of the trilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey in the fields of agriculture and the environment as swell as a number of projects implemented in these areas, including the expansion of hazelnut production, restoration of wildlife in the Caucasus, protection of biodiversity and others.
