Azerbaijan MFA Spokesman Defends Election Process Against EU Criticism


BAKU — Aykhan Hajizada, the head of the Press Service Department at Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has publicly responded to criticisms from Peter Stano, the press secretary for the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, concerning the recent snap parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Hajizada addressed Stano’s comments on the X platform, asserting that the elections were conducted in strict adherence to Azerbaijan’s Constitution and national laws. He criticized the OSCE/ODIHR’s persistent negative perspective on Azerbaijani elections, labeling their claims as “null and void” and influenced by bias. Hajizada emphasized the commitment of Azerbaijan to uphold its constitutional integrity in the electoral process.
