Azerbaijan Prepared for Mpox Diagnosis and Treatment, Health Ministry Confirms

BAKU — Azerbaijan has all the necessary resources to diagnose and treat mpox if cases are suspected to have been brought into the country, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced on Tuesday.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Ministry of Health confirmed that Azerbaijan is fully equipped to handle potential mpox cases amid growing concerns over the disease. This statement follows the recent declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) that the surge of mpox in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and other countries in Africa constitutes a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) under the International Health Regulations (2005).

The WHO has also urged individuals to get vaccinated against mpox to curb the spread of the virus.
