Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Monday received a delegation led by Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, APA reported.
The head of state mentioned developing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia in all areas, expressing his confidence that the delegation’s visit to our country and the meetings to be held during this visit would be beneficiary.
Ilham Aliyev spoke of the successful development of ties between law enforcement agencies of the two countries, noting the importance of working relations, mutual exchange of information and joint events between them in terms of boosting security in the region.
The president mentioned the 70th centenary of the high-level holding of the victory on fascism in Azerbaijan, stressing the importance of these events in terms of forming a common position regarding the continuity of traditions of marking this victory and maintenance of historical justice.
N. Patrushev gave in his turn Russian President Vladimir Putin’s regards to the Azerbaijani head of state, noting that they witnessed thorough reconstruction and renovation work being carried out in Azerbaijan as soon as he arrived in the country. He also noted that bilateral relations between the two countries are successfully developing in all spheres.
The secretary of Russia’s Security Council noted the importance of high-level meetings as well as the Azerbaijani and Russian presidents’ joint participations in events held in Moscow over the 70th centenary of the victory on fascism in terms of the expansion of bilateral relations and strengthening of ties. The Russian guest touched upon the 92nd anniversary of Heydar Aliyev’s birth, saying he was a great statesman and political figure.
He added that Heydar Aliyev played a exceptional role in brining Azerbaijan to the current level of development. Patrushev also spoke of the first European Games, expressing his confidence that the sports event would be arranged at a high level.
The sides then exchanged ideas on issues of common interest.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for Presidentg Vladimir Putin’s regards, asking the Russian delegate in turn to deliver his regards to the Russian head of state, too.
