The attempt to smuggle 62 kilograms and 764 grams of narcotic drugs from Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented in the service area of the “Horadiz”, “Goytapa”, and “Lankaran” border detachments of the State Border Service (SBS) as a part of the measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border and fight against illegal drug trafficking, APA reports citing the SBS.
It was noted that on March 1, SBS detained a person identified as Manafov Mammad with a package of 17 kilograms 600 grams of narcotic marijuana, and 1430 pieces of Methadone-40 pills with psychotropic content and was seized.
On March 2, unknown persons were observed violating the state border from the Islamic Republic of Iran in the direction of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
As a result of search-operation measures, 2 parcels with a total weight of 10 kilograms and 155 grams of narcotic marijuana were found and seized from them.
On the same day, a total of 34 kilograms and 109 grams of narcotic marijuana had been seized from three separate persons.
Operative-investigative measures are being continued on the mentioned facts.
