Azerbaijan Security Chief Stresses Need for Coordinated Intelligence to Tackle International Terrorism

BAKU—At the II Baku Security Forum, Colonel General Ali Nagiyev, head of Azerbaijan’s State Security Service (SSS), emphasized the critical importance of enhancing coordination among intelligence agencies to effectively combat international terrorism and related security challenges.

According to Trend News Agency, Nagiyev detailed the strategic implications of terrorism, particularly attacks on energy transport lines, which he noted could precipitate global economic and environmental catastrophes. His comments underscored the interconnected nature of security and economic stability worldwide.

“The synchronization of our intelligence efforts is not merely beneficial but essential in preempting and responding to acts of terrorism that threaten to destabilize not just individual nations but the global community,” Nagiyev said. He pointed out that the scheduling of the security forum just before the COP29 highlights the urgent need for integrated action among international security agencies to safeguard critical infrastructure and preserve environmental integrity.

Nagiyev’s call for strengthened global cooperation comes at a crucial time as nations around the world continue to grapple with the complex web of threats posed by international terrorism, alongside preparing for the impending global discussions at COP29.
