Azerbaijan, Somalia discuss cooperation within international platforms

Azerbaijan and Somalia have discussed cooperation within international organizations as Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Republic of Somalia Khalif Abdi Omar on the sidelines of a high-level meeting marking the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Belgrade.

 

The ministers discussed various issues on the bilateral cooperation agenda, including the successful continuation of political dialogue.

 

Somali Minister Khalif Abdi Omar praised Azerbaijan’s successful chairmanship of the NAM and the initiatives of global importance put forward by the President of Azerbaijan as the chairman of the NAM in the fight against the pandemic. In this regard, it was noted that Azerbaijan has provided humanitarian and financial assistance to more than 30 countries, including the NAM, in the fight against the pandemic, and half of it is intended for the member states of the NAM.

 

Khalif Abdi Omar stressed the importance of the special session of the General Assembly dedicated to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, initiated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
