Azerbaijan Targets 15% Digitalization of Physical Services by Year’s End

BAKU – Azerbaijan is setting ambitious goals to enhance its digital infrastructure, with plans to convert 15 percent of all physically provided public services to digital platforms by the end of this year. This announcement was made by Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Samir Mammadov, during a presentation of the updated “mygov” e-government platform.

According to Trend News Agency, Mammadov emphasized the transformative potential of the “mygov” platform for streamlining citizen interactions with the government. “Citizens will be able to access and update their personal data, receive timely notifications, and simplify processes for various life events through a few clicks on the ‘mygov’ platform,” he stated. This shift is expected to foster a more transparent and efficient digital ecosystem, reducing the necessity for in-person visits and complex bureaucratic processes.

Mammadov also outlined the broader digital strategy of Azerbaijan, which includes enhancing digital government, society, and business sectors. “The overarching aim is to expand digitalization across all facets of life, ensuring more effective operation of both public services and internal government functions,” he added. This strategy is part of a larger vision to fully digitalize government services in Azerbaijan, promoting a seamless integration of digital solutions into everyday activities.

The focus on digital development is underscored by the substantial economic activity in the sector, with information and communication enterprises generating services valued at 2.2 billion manat (approximately $1.2 billion) from January through August 2024. This financial input highlights the critical role of digital services in the country’s economic framework.
