Azerbaijani and Russian Defense Ministries Hold Collaborative Meeting in Baku

BAKU— Top defense officials from Azerbaijan and Russia convened in Baku this week for a pivotal meeting aimed at enhancing cooperation in military policing, personnel training, and traffic safety within their armed forces.

According to Trend News Agency, the event was attended by a Russian delegation led by Major General Vitaly Kokh, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Military Police of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The visit began with a tribute at the Alley of Martyrs, where the delegation honored the memory of those who died for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Russians also paid respects to Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, by placing flowers at his bust at the Military Police Department.

During the working meeting, both sides engaged in detailed discussions on the daily operations, material and technical equipment, and training programs of the Military Police Department. The exchange also covered a range of pertinent issues aimed at fostering deeper ties and mutual understanding between the two countries’ defense ministries.

The Russian delegates were briefed on the history of the Azerbaijani Military Police, and explored the department’s modern weaponry, administrative facilities, sports halls, and car parks. Their visit also included practical demonstrations at a military unit under the Military Police Department, where they observed search and rescue operations, neutralization of militants, and the evacuation procedures for prisoners of war conducted by Azerbaijani military police units.
