Azerbaijani Defense Leadership Honors Fallen Soldiers on Remembrance Day at Victory Park

Baku—In a solemn visit to the still under-construction Victory Park in Baku, senior officials from the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, including Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, commemorated Remembrance Day by honoring soldiers who perished in the 44-day Second Karabakh War.

According to Trend News Agency, the visit included a ceremonial flower-laying at the park’s memorial stone, led by Minister Hasanov and accompanied by a delegation of cadets from special training institutions under the National Defense University. This gesture was part of the broader Remembrance Day observances, which have been held annually on September 27 following a decree by President Ilham Aliyev on December 2, 2020. The day is dedicated to the memory of Azerbaijani soldiers and officers whose sacrifices ensured the country’s territorial integrity during the conflict.

The establishment of Victory Park as a new national monument underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to acknowledging the valor and sacrifice of its military forces and provides a place for reflection and remembrance for the public and military community alike.
