Azerbaijani governments tax reforms receive AmCham support

AmCham Azerbaijan has said it welcomes the recent Executive Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on “Directions of tax reforms to be implemented in 2016 and improvement of tax administration” issued on 4 August, 2016.

“We are pleased to see that a number of recommendations on improvement of tax administration and easing doing business in the country submitted to the Government of Azerbaijan Republic by the Chamber earlier this year have been reflected in the Decree,” Natavan Mammadova, Executive Director of AmCham in Azerbaijan, said.

“Among others, the Decree calls for simplification of tax administration procedures and tax burden reduction, introduction of Advance Tax Ruling concept, prohibition of desk tax audits by the tax authorities after 30 days from filing tax returns by taxpayers, introduction of Voluntary Tax Disclosure, simplification of administrative procedures for application of benefits of double tax treaties concluded by Azerbaijan which are extremely important for the further improvement of business climate in the country.”

“AmCham and its members are inspired by the economic reforms which the Government of Azerbaijan has commenced in 2016 and stands ready to provide its expertise and knowledge for further implementation of the tasks envisaged in the Decree,” she said.

AmCham has been working in Azerbaijan since 1996, in order to promote the business interests of the member companies, to improve the business climate in Azerbaijan and to provide services to the members.
