BAKU — Mazahir Panahov, chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, affirmed today that all footage and reports concerning electoral irregularities circulating on social networks will be thoroughly investigated. This statement was made during a CEC meeting, as covered by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the commission is committed to ensuring that all decisions made are justified and transparent to Azerbaijani citizens. “We need the citizens of Azerbaijan to see that the decisions we make are reasoned decisions,” he stated. Panahov emphasized that without specific complaints or evidence of violations at any precincts, the commission cannot act, but pledged that all available footage on social media concerning the elections will be examined to determine their veracity. He also expressed frustration over the lack of engagement from international organizations and local applicants in the electoral process.
