A special conference of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) on “Peace and security: the role of political parties”, hosted by the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), is being held in Baku.
YAP Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Apparatus Tahir Budagov, ICAPP Standing Committee Co-Chairman, former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea Chung Eui-Yong, former Director of the Office of the National Assembly, Head of the Department of Relations with Political Parties and Legislative Power of the Presidential Administration Adalat Valiyev, deputies of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) and other persons participate in the event.
Speaking at the event, Budagov said that threats are rising in the world and there is a great need for dialogue and cooperation at such a time: “Under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, a lot of work has been and is being done to restore stability, achieve peace and cooperation in the region. Living in a tolerant environment in Azerbaijan is the national wealth of our people. We can purify the world by letting go of ambitions and with mutual respect.”
He also noted that Azerbaijani territories have been under the occupation of Armenia for nearly 30 years: “Azerbaijan’s attempts to resolve the conflict peacefully did not result positively. Armenia came up with new territorial claims. Therefore, on September 27, 2020, Azerbaijan liberated its lands by launching a counter-offensive, implementing four UN resolutions.”
