Body remains belonging to 396 Azerbaijani servicemen found in liberated territories from occupation

“In the 8th clause of the Trilateral statement, exchange of military prisoners, hostages, and other detained persons, as well as bodies is considered. After signing the Trilateral Statement, the Republic of Azerbaijan has taken important steps regarding fulfilling its commitments,” head of the Working Group of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, Ismayil Akhundov said in an interview with APA.

He noted that relevant bodies including the State Commission have taken urgent measures in this area: “In accordance with the trilateral statement, the sides have carried out the joint research-investigation works in the liberated territories from the occupation through the mediation of the Russian peacekeeping contingent that temporarily placed in Karabakh, and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and body remains have been handed over to the opposite sides.

During the process, the body remains belonging to 396 Azerbaijani servicemen who have been founded in the liberated territory from the occupation and taken. The body remains have been identified in the relevant laboratories of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Health under the control of the Military Prosecutor’s Office and handed over to their families, bodies of our martyrs have been buried in accordance with the requirements of the military regulation”.
