Budapest to host next meeting of Azerbaijan-Hungary Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation

Baku, June 29, AZERTAC

“The next meeting of Azerbaijan-Hungary Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation will take place in Budapest,” Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto has told AZERTAC`s correspondent.

“We consider our relationship as of strategic importance. We look at Azerbaijan as a country with which the European Union should build a new strategic cooperation since Azerbaijan is the number one possible source of energy diversification for the EU. We are very happy that the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor will give impetus to diversification of our sources of energy,” the minister said.

Szijjarto said that the Hungarian Embassy in Azerbaijan is functioning as NATO Contact Point Embassy in Baku up to 2020, adding that Hungary intends to enhance cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO.

“We will have a meeting of the Joint Economic Commission in Budapest where we will put forward cooperation activities in the field of agriculture, pharmaceutical industry and information technologies. Azerbaijan`s cargo airline Silk Way West Airlines has resumed its flight between Baku and Budapest, which will boost cargo transportation between the countries,” Szijjártó added.
