H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, has spoken highly of the fruitful cooperation and support of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to Cambodia.
In a recent meeting here in Phnom Penh with Ms. Hoonae Kim, IFAD’s Asia-Pacific Regional Director, H.E. Minister highly appreciated the contribution of IFAD to the development of agriculture in Cambodia since 1996.
H.E. Veng Sakhon sought IFAD’s support to the promotion of rice and agricultural product export policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia and to push for more investments in the agricultural sector.
For her part, Ms. Hoonae Kim recognized the efforts and good cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries so far. She requested the ministry’s continued cooperation and support to the ongoing projects such as the Project for Agricultural Development and Economic Empowerment (PADEE), Agriculture Services Programme for Innovation, Resilience and Extension (ASPIRE) and Scaling-up of Renewable Energy Technologies in Rural Cambodia (SRET).
Since 1996, IFAD has provided some US$143 million to Cambodia to carry out eight projects, of which three has been being implemented and five others have already been completed.
