Azerbaijan will be presented at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival with the support of the Culture and Tourism Ministry.
The country is no stranger of the Cannes International Film Festival, as Azerbaijan’s pavilion has already been featured four times in the festival.
The ministry said that a delegation, including a group of national cinema figures will attend the grandiose festival to be held in Cannes, France on May 13-24.
The pavilion will put on display national films. The delegation also plans to hold meetings with foreign producers, film directors, actors and other movie makers, during which the sides will discuss joint projects.
The audience will have a chance to see copies and videos, related to the country’s tourist potential.
They also will get an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the first European Games – to be held in Baku this June 12-28. The exciting and innovative new multi-sport event in Baku will include 20 sports, 16 of which are Olympic, during the 17 days of competition in June 12-28. 6,000 athletes will prove themselves in Azerbaijan’s capital.
In 2014, more than 20 filmmakers represented Azerbaijan in the Cannes. Such films as “Sonuncu” (The Last One) directed by Sergei Pikalov, and short film “Torn” directed by Elmar Imanov and Engin Kundag were shown for the first time in one of the main competitive programs of the festival.
The Cannes International Film Festival is an annual film festival held in France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from around the world. Founded in 1946, it is one of the most prestigious and publicized film festivals in the world. The invitation-only festival is held annually [usually in May] at the Palais des Festivals et des CongrAÂ¨s.
