Caspian and Middle Corridor Vital for Global Trade, Says MSC Georgia

BAKU—During a session at the Black and Caspian Freight Forum 2024, Alkan Alicik, Managing Director of MSC Georgia, emphasized the critical role of the Caspian Sea and the Middle Corridor as essential transportation links that facilitate international trade between continents.

According to Trend News Agency, Alicik detailed the strategic importance of these routes during the “International Transport Corridors in the Black and Caspian Sea Region” session. He highlighted that the Black Sea, Caspian Sea, and the Middle Corridor are key arteries that not only connect continents but also play a pivotal role in the dynamics of global commerce. “MSC, as the market leader in container transportation in this region, has in recent years become one of the leading players in a dynamically developing market. We are actively developing innovative solutions and strengthening strategic partnerships in this region,” Alicik stated.

The Middle Corridor serves as a bridge linking the container rail freight networks from China to the European Union through Central Asia, the Caucasus, Türkiye, and Eastern Europe. This multilateral multimodal transportation network includes ferry terminals of the Caspian and Black Seas, integrated with the railway systems of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, Ukraine, and Poland.

This corridor not only boosts cargo traffic from China to Türkiye and other European nations but also facilitates the reverse flow. The route can deliver cargo from China to Europe in approximately 20-25 days, offering a competitive edge over alternative routes by significantly reducing transit times.
