Charles Leclerc Leads in Formula 1 Qualifying at Azerbaijan Grand Prix

BAKU—The qualifying session for the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2024 concluded today, with Charles Leclerc of Scuderia Ferrari achieving the top time, followed by competitors from McLaren and Ferrari.

According to Trend News Agency, the qualifying round saw participation from 10 teams, marking a competitive run within the week-long Formula 1 and Formula 2 events in Baku. Charles Leclerc led the session, showing a strong performance for Scuderia Ferrari, with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz also posting notable times.

The session, which began at 16:05, kicked off the second day of the Grand Prix, featuring a lineup of Formula 1 and Formula 2 activities designed to engage racing enthusiasts. The event, which started on September 13 and will run through September 15, includes practice sessions, qualifying rounds, and races for both F1 and F2 teams.

Today’s schedule also featured the third free practice session for F1 teams, providing them with a final chance to adjust their vehicles ahead of the weekend’s competitive races. Formula 2 teams took part in their own qualifying sessions and sprint races, adding to the excitement and intensity of the day’s lineup. The event will reach its climax on September 15 with the main races, where the champions of both categories will be crowned.
