AS Fiji’s national carrier Fiji Airways prepares for its inaugural direct flight to Singapore next week, head of corporate affairs Shaenaz Voss says the response from travellers has been encouraging.
“We’re buoyed by the response to our Singapore flights. The special introductory fare of $999 sold out, and the $1299 fares are selling quickly as well. More and more Fijians are booking for the flights to Singapore in time for the Singapore 7s, which is encouraging to see,” said Ms Voss.
She said Fiji Airways was working with its partners in Fiji and Singapore to increase awareness of this new route and destination.
“Changi Airport was in Nadi yesterday (Wednesday) and we hosted a seminar for over 20 Fiji travel agents to learn about the attractions of Singapore for Fijian travellers.
“From theme parks, entertainment, shopping and culinary experience, Singapore should definitely make the list for Fijians travelling for leisure this year.”
Ms Voss said the agents received an update on upcoming world-class events in Singapore such as the Singapore 7s, the Formula One Grand Prix and concerts by top artistes.
“Changi Airport, recently voted the World’s Best Airport for the fourth consecutive year, gave travel agents detailed information about all the facilities they offer. It is fair to say the Changi Airport is a destination in itself, and agents were impressed by what they heard.”
