Armenia’s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan met with U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills on Wednesday, the press service of the Armenian defense ministry reported.

Ohanyan and Mills discussed the latest large-scale offensive unleashed by Azerbaijan against the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the current situation on the line of contact between Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops.

Ohanyan briefed the ambassador on the main elements of Azerbaijan’s blatant aggression, including war crimes committed by Azerbaijani troops against Armenian soldiers and civilians, as well as gross violations of other legal provisions related to the armed conflict. The minister said he will initiate an international assessment of these crimes.

Alik Avetisyan, Senior Assistant to the defense ministry told reporters that “the bodies of 18 Armenian soldiers, which Azerbaijan transferred to Nagorno-Karabakh on April 10, are undergoing an examination. He informed that the Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting this examination,” reported

The parties once again stressed the importance of active mediation efforts and the strengthening of the written agreement on the ceasefire as well as the establishment of confidence-building mechanisms as a precondition for easing the confrontation in the conflict zone

Armenia Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on April 13 met the Ambassadors of the OSCE member states accredited in Armenia. Minister Nalbandian talked about the results of Baku’s military operations committed throughout the length of Karabakh-Azerbaijan border. “Armenpress” was informed about this by the Department of Press, Information and Public Relations of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

“Azerbaijan with its aggressive actions, in fact, tried to reject its international duties to solve the issue through peaceful means, grossly violated the fundamental principle of international law, the decisions and declarations of the OSCE, openly decried the statements by the heads of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries on the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” said the Armenian Foreign Minister.

Nalbandian emphasized the need to support OSCE Minsk Group initiatives.
