Separatists in eastern Ukraine asked Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday to recognize the independence of self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk republics, APA reports citing Daily Sabah.

They also appealed to Putin to consider signing an agreement on defense cooperation between Russia and rebel-held regions.
