Baku: The expansion of state-owned airports and/or aerodromes, as well as the construction of new airports and/or aerodromes, has been included among the state needs that serve as grounds for land acquisition, APA reports. This significant update is part of the broader efforts by the Azerbaijani government to modernize and expand its aviation infrastructure.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the changes have been formalized through amendments to the Law 'On the Acquisition of Lands for State Needs,' which were recently approved by President Ilham Aliyev. The amendments specify that land acquisition for the development of airports is now officially recognized as serving the public interest, thereby facilitating the process of obtaining land for such projects.
In addition to the amendments to the land acquisition law, relevant changes have also been made to the Civil Code. These legislative changes underscore the strategic importance placed on enhancing the country's transportation network, aiming to boost both domestic connectivity and international accessibility. The move is expected to pave the way for improved infrastructure, which is critical for economic growth and development in Azerbaijan.
