Georgian health officials and doctors have received their first doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine earlier today live on TV, according to Agenda.ge.

The country received 43,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine on March 13 with the help of UNICEF.

Deputy head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Paata Imnadze was the first who got the jab.

More than 2,000 doctors have been registered for vaccination so far.

73-year-old doctor Tamar Giorgadze was the first who registered for this.

Next week Georgia is expected to receive 29,250 doses US-German Pfizer vaccine.

Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze has stated that if at least 1,600,000 people in the country receive their vaccines this year, Georgia will return to the normal way of living.

Georgia has had 275,148 cases of coronavirus since February 2020.

268,565 of the 275,148 individuals have recovered, while 3,650 others have died.
