International Conference of News Agencies held in Islamabad

The Pakistani capital of Islamabad has hosted the International Conference of News Agencies (ICNA) organized by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). The two-day conference was held under the theme “Emerging Professional Challenges to the News Agencies” and marked the 70 years of Pakistan`s independence.

Delegates from news agencies of 20 countries attended the event, including chief of the editorial desk at AZERTAC Gunel Malikova.

The conference deliberated upon issues and challenges being faced by the national news agencies and media organizations.

The conference decided to establish an International Forum of News Agencies (IFNA). A committee was formed from Pakistan, Tunisia, Iran, Greece and Sudan to run the forum which aims to increase coordination and exchange of news materials, photos and videos among member agencies, as well as to provide logistical and training support to media professionals.
