Baku – President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid of Iraq visited the Alley of Honors in Baku to pay tribute to Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of modern and independent Azerbaijan.

According to Trend News Agency, President Rashid laid a wreath and flowers at the tomb of the Great Leader and at the grave of his wife, prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva. Furthermore, the Iraqi President visited the Alley of Martyrs to honor Azerbaijani heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence and territorial integrity, laying a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument. During his visit, President Rashid also viewed the panoramic landscape of Baku and learned about the history of the Alley of Martyrs and the city’s redevelopment efforts.
